Product Manager – AI Insurance Products (Hands-on Build Role)
Up to £100.000 + bonus + benefits
Hybrid with 1-2 days a week in London
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Product Manager to join a global IT consultancy firm to lead the creation of new AI-driven insurance products from scratch. This is a build-first role requiring deep product ownership, strong technical fluency in AI, and proven experience delivering production-grade insurance technology products.
You will work closely with engineering teams to define, prototype, and ship AI-enabled insurance solutions across policy administration, claims processing, and operational automation.
This is not a discovery-only or business analysis role — you will be expected to define, build, validate, and iterate working software products.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for new AI insurance products (idea → MVP → production → scale)
- Define clear, executable product vision and technical direction that engineering teams can directly build against
- Build and demonstrate working product prototypes and live demos (not slide decks)
- Translate insurance domain complexity into AI-powered product capabilities
- Work directly with engineering, data science, and architecture teams in an Agile delivery environment
- Prioritise features based on technical feasibility, insurance value, and AI capability maturity
- Drive development of in-house AI solutions across:
- Policy administration systems
- Claims automation and optimisation
- Document intelligence and decision automation
- Rapidly validate ideas through POCs, MVPs, and iterative releases
- Act as the product owner in delivery squads, not a passive stakeholder
Required Experience
- Proven experience in Insurance technology (must-have)
- Hands-on experience building products from scratch
- Strong experience in AI/ML-powered product development (not theoretical AI exposure)
- Demonstrated ability to build in-house AI products (not vendor-integrated only)
- Deep understanding of policy systems and/or claims systems
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments with engineering teams
- Strong capability in live product demos and prototype development
- Ability to define product vision that engineers can directly implement
- Strong technical product mindset (this is not a BA role)
Must-Have Skills
- AI product development (LLMs, automation, classification, document intelligence, etc.)
- Insurance domain knowledge (policy + claims workflows)
- Product discovery + delivery ownership
- Agile delivery leadership
- Ability to work hands-on with engineering teams (daily, not episodic involvement)
- Strong communication with technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience in Insurtech or insurance transformation programmes
- Familiarity with underwriting or actuarial workflows
- Experience scaling early-stage AI products into production systems
- Data platform exposure (APIs, event-driven architecture, cloud-native systems)
