An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing civil engineering design team delivering a wide range of infrastructure and development projects.
The successful candidate will contribute to the design and delivery of highways and civil infrastructure schemes, working across projects from early concept stages through to detailed design and construction support.
You will work closely with engineers, designers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, sustainable, and technically robust infrastructure solutions. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to develop their technical skills while gaining experience across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver infrastructure design solutions across highways, transport, and development projects.
Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
Develop highway and civil engineering layouts including:
oRoad alignments
oEarthworks
oDrainage systems
oJunction arrangements
oAccess infrastructure
Support projects through feasibility, planning, detailed design, and construction stages.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal design teams.
Coordinate design information with other disciplines including drainage, structures, utilities, and environmental teams.
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, guidance, and project requirements.
Assist with technical reviews, design checks, and quality assurance processes.
Essential Requirements
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience working within civil engineering design, ideally within highways or infrastructure.
Understanding of highway design principles and relevant UK standards.
Experience with highway drainage design.
Experience with highway alignment and earthworks design.
Ability to produce accurate technical information and communicate effectively within project teams.
Desirable Experience
Experience working on highways, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of:
oDesign Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB)
oManual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW)
oLocal authority highway standards
Experience with Section 38 and Section 278 highway agreements.
Experience with drainage approvals and Section 104 processes.
Familiarity with BIM processes and collaborative design environments.
Software Skills
Experience with:
Autodesk Civil 3D
AutoCAD (2D/3D)
Highway alignment design software
Drainage design packages such as InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage
