Equities Quant Developer (Python) – Madrid
Madrid
£80,000 – £130,000
Build the systems that shape portfolio decisions at a leading multi-strategy hedge fund - while based in Madrid.
This is a role for someone who enjoys owning real products end-to-end. You’ll work directly with portfolio managers and strategy teams, turning messy datasets into tools, dashboards, and analytics that actually drive investment decisions.
It’s less about theory-heavy modelling and more about building robust, production-grade systems that people rely on every day. Think: decision-support tools, performance analytics, and data pipelines that turn raw information into actionable insight.
You’ll get London-level compensation, but with a Madrid lifestyle - and a high degree of autonomy in how you build and ship.
What you’ll do
- Design and build end-to-end applications that support strategy, from data ingestion through to front-end dashboards and visualisation tools.
- Work directly with PMs and analysts to understand problems, define requirements, and deliver practical solutions that improve decision-making.
- Develop systems that analyse performance, evaluate strategies, and surface insights from large and often messy datasets (including alternative data).
- Own your work fully: from initial idea and architecture through to deployment, iteration, and long-term maintenance.
- Collaborate with technology and AI teams to scale tools and integrate them into the broader investment platform.
What you’ll need
- Strong Python skills (core requirement), with experience building production-grade applications and working with large datasets; SQL expected.
- Around 2+ years’ experience in a quant dev, data, or similar engineering-focused role.
- Ability to operate independently: comfortable taking problems from vague idea to a fully working solution without heavy structure or hand-holding.
- Experience building full-stack or end-to-end systems (data pipelines, back-end services, dashboards/visualisation layers).
- Solid grounding in data science/statistics and experience working with time-series or structured datasets.
- Strong ownership mindset: you write it, you run it, you improve it.
Nice to have
- Exposure to financial markets or equities.
- Experience working with alternative data or investment teams.
