Database Engineer - Sybase ASE Specialist

Location: London (Hybrid)

Rate: Up to 700/day

Duration: 6-month rolling contract

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer with strong SQL expertise and hands-on experience in Sybase ASE . You will be responsible for developing, optimising, and maintaining database solutions that support critical business operations within a global investment banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance stored procedures to implement complex business logic.
• Optimize query performance and troubleshoot database issues.
• Work with large datasets and ensure efficient SQL operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality database solutions.
• Maintain version control and CI/CD processes using Git and GitLab.

Required Skills

• In-depth knowledge of SQL, T-SQL, and data warehousing concepts.
• Proven experience with Sybase ASE databases.
• Proficiency in Linux environments.
• Strong experience in performance tuning and query optimisation.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools (eg, GitLab).
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

• Shell Scripting experience.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and Big Data technologies.
• Strong programming skills in Python .
