Financial Controller
The Opportunity
An investor-backed, high-growth business in the data centre infrastructure space is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support the Finance Director in building a scalable, best-in-class finance function. This is a broad leadership role spanning financial control, reporting, governance, treasury, compliance, systems improvement, and finance transformation.
This is a 6 month interim position offering the opportunity to play a pivotal role in strengthening financial controls, improving reporting quality, and implementing the processes and infrastructure required to support continued growth.

The business is entering a key phase of growth and professionalisation, with finance playing a critical role in supporting decision-making, governance, investment management, and future expansion plans.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will take ownership of core financial control activities whilst supporting the ongoing development of finance processes, systems, governance, and reporting frameworks. This is a highly visible role requiring a technically strong and commercially minded finance leader who is comfortable operating across both strategic and hands-on responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Overseeing management accounts, statutory reporting, and financial reporting outputs
- Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records and accounting processes
- Designing and enhancing financial controls, governance frameworks, and policies
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong control discipline
- Supporting cashflow forecasting, liquidity management, and working capital performance
- Partnering with operational and procurement teams to strengthen financial governance
- Providing financial oversight across significant capital expenditure and investment programmes
- Supporting investment appraisal, project reporting, and capitalisation accounting
- Managing external audit processes and coordinating relationships with advisers
- Overseeing tax, compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Leading and developing finance team members, including future hires
- Driving finance systems optimisation, automation, and reporting enhancement
- Supporting wider finance transformation and process improvement initiatives
Your Profile
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA preferred, ACCA or CIMA considered)
- Significant Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Senior Finance Manager experience
- Strong technical accounting, financial reporting, and controls background
- Experience operating within a growing, changing, or investor-backed environment
- Proven track record of improving controls, governance, and reporting processes
- Strong stakeholder management and business partnering capability
- Comfortable operating strategically whilst remaining hands-on when required
- Experience leading and developing finance teams
Compensation & Benefits
This role offers a day rate of £550-650 per day outside IR35, alongside hybrid working from the Shoreditch office. The position provides the opportunity to play a key role in shaping a growing finance function, partnering closely with senior leadership, and delivering meaningful impact across reporting, controls, governance, and business transformation initiatives.
