This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK office of a Japanese manufacturer in a role focused on new digital business and service development.

The position is responsible for exploring and shaping new opportunities by combining technical feasibility, customer insight, and market potential.

It offers a broad scope across early-stage concept development, validation, business case creation, and cross-functional project coordination.

Digital Innovation Project Lead Main Responsibilities

This role is responsible for supporting the early-stage development of new digital business opportunities, from exploration and validation through to internal recommendation and handover.

  • Lead and support new business exploration projects
  • Research customer needs, market trends, and business opportunities
  • Develop early-stage concepts and test key assumptions
  • Plan and drive PoC, MVP, pilot, or prototype activities
  • Gather and apply customer and stakeholder feedback
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis
  • Support business modelling and commercial evaluation
  • Prepare internal proposal materials and recommendation documents
  • Coordinate activities across internal teams and functions
  • Work with external partners where required
  • Support handover of validated opportunities to relevant teams
  • Contribute to improving internal approaches to early-stage innovation

Digital Innovation Project Lead Ideal Candidate

Required

  • Hands-on experience in digital business creation, service development, or early-stage venture/concept development
  • Experience developing ideas based on customer needs and validating assumptions
  • Experience with PoC, MVP, or early-stage concept testing
  • Good understanding of business models and commercial strategy
  • Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional projects
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Able to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments with changing priorities
  • Right to work in the UK

Desired

  • Degree in Economics, Business, or a related field
  • Experience managing budgets or governance processes
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, or Cloud
  • Background in digital services or technology-driven businesses
  • Experience working in an English-speaking business environment
  • Understanding of Japanese companies or experience working with a Japanese headquarters
