Network Engineer (CCTV, Access Control, IP Infrastructure)
Network Engineer – IP Security Systems (Mansfield)
Mansfield | £40,000–£50,000 | Permanent
We're working with a client who is a nationally recognised security and communications business, to appoint a Network Engineer to support and maintain the IP infrastructure behind large-scale CCTV, access control, and integrated security systems.
This role would suit someone from a telecoms, networking, or field engineering background who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving, and working with real-world systems rather than sitting behind a desk all day.
The Role
You'll be a key technical escalation point within the operations team, supporting secure IP networks that underpin critical security systems across public and private sector clients.
Day to day, you'll be involved in:
- Fault-finding and resolving network-related issues across IP CCTV and access control systems
- Supporting structured networks, switches, routers, VLANs, and wireless links
- Remote diagnostics and technical support for live systems
- Acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues and P1 outages
- Working closely with field engineers to maintain high technical and service standards
- Completing clear documentation, job reports, and system records
Background That Works Well
You don't need to come directly from security systems. Strong candidates often come from:
- Telecoms / fibre / network engineering
- Field-based IP or infrastructure roles
- Structured cabling and wireless networking environments
- Military engineering or technical backgrounds
If you're comfortable fault-finding, working under pressure, and dealing with live systems, the rest can be taught.
What They're Looking For
- Experience in network fault-finding and troubleshooting
- Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals
- Confidence working with structured and wireless networks
- Calm, methodical approach to problem-solving
- Good communication and a strong customer-service mindset
- Desire to learn and develop into more advanced systems
What's on Offer
- Salary: £40,000–£50,000 (depending on experience)
- Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm
- Ongoing training and exposure to advanced security technologies
- Clear progression opportunities within a growing business
- Strong benefits package including pension, holiday buy, medical cash plan, and more
If you're an engineer who likes getting stuck in, solving problems properly, and working with technology that actually matters, this is a cracking opportunity.
