PBX Field Engineer (Regional - South East)

Location: Flexible, hybrid working position with commitment to customer travel. | Business Area: Professional Services | Salary Details: Up to £40,000 dependent on experience, plus car allowance.

As a Field Engineer, you'll report directly to the Deputy Team Leader and become part of a high-performing, collaborative team known for its technical expertise and customer-first mindset. You'll play a pivotal role in supporting our customers by providing on-site and remote engineering services, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring seamless implementation of our solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site visits to customer premises to install and configure a variety of Cloud Voice and ICT solutions, ensuring seamless deployment and optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues that cannot be addressed remotely, delivering hands-on support with precision and efficiency.
  • Provide overflow support to desk-based engineers during peak demand or escalated cases, contributing to team-wide service continuity.
  • Perform hardware and software installations at customer sites, adhering to best practices and company standards.
  • Lead customer transformation projects independently or collaborate with colleagues to ensure successful delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with customers, keeping them informed of progress and resolution timelines throughout the support process.
  • Uphold service level agreements (SLAs) by accurately updating ticket information from initial diagnostics through to final resolution.
  • Liaise with third-party providers and vendors to investigate and resolve incidents, conducting thorough root cause analysis where required.
  • Support the development of team capabilities by mentoring colleagues and assisting with escalations in line with established procedures.

Technical:

Have excellent knowledge of:

  • Cloud Voice and connectivity Products
  • Telephony hardware and handset configuration
  • Microsoft Teams Voice implementations and topologies
  • PBX and Analogue platform interoperability o SIP Connectivity
  • Contact Centre Solutions & Call Recording
  • Understanding of Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud environments
  • Firewall, network topologies, infrastructure and VPN Technologies
  • Switch administration & configuration (VLANs, trunks, stacking)

More about you:

  • A personable and well-presented professional with outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Based in the South East of the UK, with the flexibility to travel to customer sites across the region.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Strong customer focus with a proactive approach to meeting client needs and exceeding expectations.
  • Willingness to participate in out-of-hours work and 24/7 on-call support when required (additional benefits apply).
  • Excellent time management and workload prioritisation skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organised, conscientious, and committed to delivering high-quality service.
  • Confident decision-maker with sound judgement, who engages the right stakeholders in the decision-making process.

Working Hours & Location:

A standard week is 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.

Prepared to work out of hours/on 24x7 call when required (additional benefits offered)

Willingness to work on customer sites for extended periods of time when required.
