Business Analyst

Job summary

We areseekinga motivated and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our Digital and Information Services team at Sherwood Forest Hospitaltosupport with the delivery of our new Electronic Patient Record system. This pivotal role will support the Trust's journey towards implementing a fully integrated EPR system, ensuring that patient information isconsolidatedinto a single, Trust-wide record.

The successful candidate will play a key part in shaping digital transformation, improving clinical workflows, and enhancing patient care across the organisation.

Although hybrid working is available across the team, this role will be central to the EPR programme and will therefore require a minimum on-site presence of three days per week at Sherwood Forest Hospitals. During go-live or other key delivery periods, on-site requirements may increase.

Main duties of the job

As anEPR Business Analyst, you will playa central rolein the Trust's digital transformation programme, ensuring that the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system is designed, implemented, and optimised to meet the needs of patients, clinicians, and operational teams.

You willbe responsible forengaging with a wide range of stakeholders to capture and analyse requirements, translating them into clear specifications for system development. The role involvesfacilitatingworkshops, mapping current and future processes, supporting testing and validation activities, and ensuring that new digital workflows are safe, efficient, and aligned with NHS standards.

Acting as the bridge between clinical services, operational staff, and technical teams, you will help deliver a system that enhances patient care, improves data quality, and supports the Trust's strategicobjectives.

Qualifications and Training

Essential
  • oDegree-level education or equivalent experience in IT, Business Analysis, or related field
  • oEvidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
  • oProfessional qualification in Business Analysis (e.g., IIBA, BCS)
  • oProject management certification (Agile, PRINCE2)

Experience

Essential
  • oProven experience as a Business Analyst in digital transformation projects
  • oExperience of requirements gathering, process mapping, and stakeholder engagement
  • oWorking knowledge of NHS clinical and operational workflows
  • oExperience supporting system testing, validation, and deployment
Desirable
  • oPrevious involvement in EPR or large-scale healthcare IT implementations
  • oExperience of working with suppliers/vendors in system delivery
  • oFamiliarity with data governance and information security standards in healthcare
  • oExperience of Automated testing tools

Experience Knowledge and Skills

Essential
  • oStrong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • oAbility to translate complex clinical/operational needs into technical specifications
  • oCompetence in process modelling tools and techniques
Desirable
  • oKnowledge of interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR)
  • oUnderstanding of NHS Digital and national EPR frameworks
  • oAwareness of change management principles

Communications and Interpersonal skills

  • oExcellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
  • oSkilled in facilitation of workshops, interviews, and focus groups

  • oAbility to travel between sites and other locations as required.
  • oAbility to support onsite during key periods including unsociable hours.
  • oAbility work flexibly to meet programme demands
