Job summary

The Trust has several bespoke systems in place which will be replaced and or have varied levels of integration to maintain a wholistic patient record. Nervecentre is currently in use for the following eObservations, Electronic Prescribing & Medicines Administration and Virtual Wards with Urgent and Emergency Care planned to be implemented soon. The Trust has a significant amount of paper casenotes which will be transformed into the Nervecentre solution, it is vital that all configuration enables the Trust to produce the required reports without impacting the user experience and or Data Quality.

The Senior Intelligence Analyst will play a key role in supporting the Trust's Electronic Patient Record (EPR) implementation programme by providing high-quality analytical insight, reporting solutions and data expertise.

Working as part of the Trust's intelligence and analytics function, the postholder will lead analytical workstreams aligned to clinical and operational domains, developing a deep understanding of services, pathways and organisational data to design and deliver meaningful intelligence products.

Main duties of the job

The role will support the organisation through the transition to EPR by ensuring continuity of reporting and performance intelligence, supporting testing and validation activities, and helping design the future analytical environment that will operate on the new digital platform.

The postholder will contribute to the wider development of the Trust's analytical capability, delivering robust analysis, dashboards and reporting solutions that support operational decision-making, service improvement and strategic planning.

Analytical products will primarily be developed using Power BI and modern data modelling approaches, working within the Trust's evolving data architecture including platforms such as the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP).

Working within a highly complex healthcare data environment, the analyst will be expected to rapidly develop an understanding of multiple clinical and operational systems and apply this knowledge to deliver reliable, meaningful and actionable intelligence.

The role aligns with the NHS National Competency Framework for Data Professionals and represents a Senior Practitioner level analyst role within the organisation.

Although hybrid working is in place and available across the team, as this role will be key to the EPR programme there will be a requirement to be on site at Sherwood Forest Hospitals a minimum of 3 days per week.

Analytical Workstream Leadership

Lead analytical workstreams aligned to clinical and operational domains, developing a detailed understanding of services, pathways and performance drivers in order to design and deliver meaningful intelligence products.

Work closely with operational, clinical and digital colleagues to identify priority analytical questions and translate these into appropriate reporting solutions, dashboards and analytical investigations.Provide expert analytical advice to managers and clinicians to support operational decision-making, service improvement and strategic planning.

Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders across the organisation to promote the effective use of data and intelligence.

Analytical Development and Reporting

Design, develop and maintain high-quality analytical products including dashboards, reports and analytical models using Power BI and associated data tools.

Develop data models and reporting solutions that provide accurate, accessible and meaningful intelligence to support clinical and operational decision making.

Analyse highly complex data from multiple sources to identify trends, variation, risk and opportunity, presenting findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.Support the development of consistent organisational metrics, definitions and performance frameworks.

Understanding Complex Data Landscapes

Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the Trusts complex data environment, including clinical systems, operational systems, legacy reporting platforms and emerging digital architecture.

Navigate and integrate data from multiple hospital systems including PAS, EPR, diagnostic systems and operational databases.

Support the organisations transition to a modern data architecture, ensuring that reporting products are designed in a way that enables future migration to platforms such as the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP).

EPR Programme Support

Work closely with the EPR programme and digital teams to support the analytical aspects of system implementation.

Support testing, validation and assurance activities relating to data migration, reporting outputs and system configuration.

Ensure that existing operational reporting and performance intelligence are maintained throughout the transition to EPR.Assist in designing future reporting solutions that will operate on the new EPR and data platform architecture.

Analytical Investigation and Insight

Undertake detailed investigation of operational, clinical and performance issues using advanced analytical techniques.

Provide insight into service performance, demand and capacity, pathway performance and patient flow.Support strategic planning and operational improvement initiatives by providing robust analytical evidence and recommendations.

Translate complex statistical and operational information into clear, meaningful messages for decision makers.

Data Governance and Quality

Ensure all analytical outputs comply with Trust information governance standards and national data guidance.

Promote high standards of data quality and responsible data use across the organisation.Work with system owners and digital teams to improve data quality where analytical work identifies issues.

Collaboration and Capability Development

Support the development of analytical capability across the organisation by promoting effective use of data and reporting tools.

Provide guidance to colleagues on interpretation and use of analytical outputs.

Contribute to the development of best practice approaches to data analysis, visualisation and reporting within the organisation.

Flexible Deployment of Analytical Capability

The postholder will contribute to the delivery of the organisations broader digital and data agenda, supporting both major transformation programmes and the ongoing development of the Trusts intelligence products.

As organisational priorities evolve, the role may focus on different aspects of analytical delivery including programme support, development of new reporting products, operational intelligence and improvement initiatives. This flexible deployment ensures that specialist analytical capability is applied where it delivers the greatest organisational benefit.

Qualifications and Training

Essential
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of CPD
