Job summary

The DSFS ICT team is at the forefront of supporting Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to deliver its strategic aims and core objectives. This is achieved through the exploitation of Information, highly effective ICT and Digital solutions. Thus, enabling IT that is Simple, Robust and Accurate.

We are looking to recruit a customer focused, highly organised and pro-active ICT Application Support Technician .

Working as part of the wider ICT Operations Team, the successful candidate will join our professional Application Support Team.

As an ICT Application Support Technician you will help to provide assurance that all IT systems used within Chesterfield Royal Hospital are functioning correctly. You will deliver support to a wide range of clinical and non-clinical IT applications ensuring all hospital staff are able to use the IT applications to allow them to perform their roles effectively.

The ICT Applications Support team is a small, but a perfectly formed group of professionals. It prides itself on hard work and excellent results, along with a strong team spirit.

Main duties of the job

To be part of the team providing Application Support on a rota basis Monday to Friday between 07:30 and 17:30

Provide help and advice to users regarding system functionality

Ensure systems are operated and maintained to appropriate standards

Assist with testing and implementation of upgrades to IT systems

Provide system administration of IT systems

Qualifications and Training

Essential
  • HNC / HND or equivalent experience in a computing/IT or Health related discipline
Desirable
  • Degree in a computing/IT or Health related discipline
  • Software Testing qualification
  • Service Management qualification

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of supporting information systems preferably covering systems management and service management
  • Evidence of writing and implementing operational process / procedures
  • Understanding of data quality issues and relevant audit processes
  • Responsibility for staff supervision
Desirable
  • Project Management of successful, medium sized system implementation
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Previous management / administration of a Health Information Systems
  • Disaster contingency planning

Skills and Knowledge

Essential
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and present highly complex information
  • Analytical approach to problem solving
  • Good interpersonal / communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience
Desirable
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of NHS data definitions, reporting requirements, sources and flows of NHS information
  • Supplier liaison skills
