In this role, you'll work closely with our ICT Quality and Governance Manager / Data Protection Officer (DPO) to deliver exceptional service and drive the Trust's and DSFS's Information Governance (IG) agenda. You'll have your own key areas of responsibility and be at the forefront of ensuring our compliance with data protection and information governance standards, making a real difference in how patient and staff information is managed.
We're seeking a dynamic team leader with a deep understanding of current legislative requirements and the ability to stay ahead of technological advancements and national mandates. Your expertise will be crucial in providing evidence for the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and supporting our compliance efforts.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking a subject matter expert on all Information Governance (IG) and data protection-related matters. The successful candidate will support the ICT Quality and Governance Manager / Data Protection Officer (DPO) by providing expert advice and guidance on confidentiality, data protection, freedom of information, and information security.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities, with a genuine passion for doing the right thing for our patients and staff. A flexible attitude and the ability to build strong relationships with peers, internal teams, and wider stakeholders both inside and outside of the hospital are essential.
The applicant must have excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player who can deliver quality outcomes within agreed timescales. Additionally, the role may require deputising for the ICT Quality and Governance Manager / DPO as needed.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent (ideally in an information security discipline)
- Data Protection qualification like the Data protection and information governance practitioner (level 4)
Experience
- Information governance experience within a large, diverse environment
- Experience of supporting information systems users across a diverse range of applications
- NHS Experience
Skills
- Specialist knowledge of Data Protection legislation, including (but limited to) the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR
- Develop and maintain accurate records and reports to support team management and Information Governance needs
- Strong written and oral communication and presentational skills
- Demonstrate ability to prioritise a varied and challenging workload, delivering to deadlines
- Ability to work with stakeholders across directorate boundaries
- Detailed knowledge of the Data Security & Protection toolkit
Personal Attributes
- Good interpersonal / communication skills and the ability to explain Information Governance issues to a non-technical audience
- Ability to cope under pressure and meet challenging deadlines
