Job summary
The Managing Director of DSFS will help develop, deliver, and drive our strategy and daily operational business, putting people and patients at the heart of everything we do.
Working across the Group, system and wider region, you will drive forward the leadership, management, and continuous improvement by role modelling the DSFS Values through collaboration and compassionate leadership. You will be ambitious and will instinctively know how to positively contribute to the Group's overall strategic aims and priorities and will have the ability to articulate a clear vision for advancing the provision of high-quality, sustainable services.
Main duties of the job
Accountable for the leadership, direction and performance of the business, ensuring delivery of the strategy and annual operating plan including financial performance.
Deliverstrategic objectives by ensuring the business meets its aims, including delivery against key performance indicators identified in the Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the Trust, promoting a continuous improvement mindset towards efficiencies and service improvement.
Ensure high quality, customer focused service delivery.
Ensure that resources are appropriately managed in accordance with demand to provide consistent service.
Ensure development and delivery of ambitious commercial business plans, to grow revenue and deliver enhanced shareholder benefit.
Ensure services are compliant with relevant statutory and mandatory standards.
Direct the development of safe and consistent systems of internal control, monitoring and risk management.
Ensure company policies and processes are communicated, understood and followed.
Develop a culture which strives for excellence, rewarding innovation and high performance.
Role model visible compassionate leadership of the DSFS Board and company in line with the DSFS Values.
Build, develop, motivate and manage an effective team with common purpose and operating standards.
Be an ambassador for the company, build and maintain effective, positive and transparent partnerships with customers, business partners, vendors to maximise opportunities, growth and reputation

Knowledge & Experience
- A proven track record of strong leadership at a senior level and developing performance-oriented teams.
- Extensive recent and relevant experience in a strategic role responsible for implementing business development solutions that have delivered growth.
- Experience of procuring and negotiating contracts of a comparable scale and complexity to those handled by DSFS.
- Experience of developing a company-wide growth strategy
- Excellent communication skills able to engage and influence stakeholders and manage conflict to resolution
- Evidence of contributing impactfully and entrepreneurially to ongoing change and development
- A strong understanding of the commercial and healthcare sectors, whether gained through the NHS, independent sector or both.
- Experience of working in a large complex environment and contributing to their development and growth
- Experience of leading and developing a positive and inclusive organisational culture.
- An understanding of the requirements of company directorship and legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to the organisation
Qualifications & Training
- Significant Board level leadership experience.
- Relevant professional and/or leadership qualification or comparable experience
- Strong evidence of continuing personal and professional development
- Compliance with NHSE Fit and Proper Person Test.
