QA & Test Lead - Chronicle (Time & Attendance SaaS)

Chronicle is a UK-based time and attendance SaaS platform used by medium and large organisations. We’re preparing to launch Version 2 and need an experienced QA & Test Lead to take charge of testing across our desktop system , manager web app , and employee app .

Chronicle is highly configurable (complex scheduling, pay rules, and system settings), so we’re looking for someone who’s methodical, analytical, and comfortable testing logic-driven systems — not just UI.

You’ll work directly with our development team (Azure DevOps) and support desk (Zendesk) to ensure releases are stable, defects are verified, and documentation is consistent.

• Design and execute manual test plans across Chronicle’s desktop, manager, and employee apps.
• Validate complex workflows — shift patterns, pay calculations, attendance rules, etc.
• Reproduce and confirm Zendesk support issues before escalation to development.
• Log, track, and verify bugs and fixes through Azure DevOps .
• Maintain a central QA dashboard showing test coverage and status.
• Write clear test documentation and regression checklists for repeatable use.
• Participate in release readiness reviews and provide QA sign-off reports .

• Azure DevOps – backlog, releases, issue tracking
• Zendesk – customer issue intake and triage
• Blazor / .NET Core web app – admin + manager
• Employee mobile app – iOS / Android
• Test data and staging environments provided

• 3+ years’ QA experience in SaaS or business-critical software (preferably B2B).
• Strong understanding of functional and regression testing .
• Proven ability to document and communicate clearly.
• Experience working with DevOps pipelines or ticketing systems.
• Fluent English and reliable communication during UK working hours (minimum 2–3 hr overlap).

• Experience with HR, payroll, or workforce management systems.
• Familiarity with Playwright / Cypress / Selenium for automation.
• Basic knowledge of API testing (Postman, Swagger).
• SQL or data-validation experience.

• Long-term freelance role (30–40 hrs/week)
