Insurance Apprenticeship – Underwriting – Chubb
Role
The purpose of the role is to provide a foundation to an insurance focused career in underwriting. The job involves working to tight deadlines, working under pressure and using technology.
Underwriting
At Chubb we offer the chance to learn how to understand complex financial and technical risks, negotiate deals and innovate new ways of working. Underwriting involves researching what a company does, analysing what could go wrong and quantifying what the financial risks are.
The purpose of the role is to provide a foundation to an insurance focused career in underwriting. As part of your development and to support your team you will:
- Learn how to assess the different risks and how to set terms and complete your underwriting tasks in line with our best practice guidelines.
- Carry out a variety of tasks such as making simple changes to policies, negotiating with brokers and chasing up and agreeing small policy changes.
- Take ownership of a small portfolio of renewal or new business accounts. Develop the skills and capabilities needed to be granted authority to make decisions independently of your supervisor.
Training
In addition to the Insurance Practitioner Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, you will work towards your Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII).
Chubb provides a broad range of on the job as well as structured learning provided by our own in-house technical experts as well as selected third parties. Apprentices will also have access to training on data analytics, project management, digital innovation, influencing skills and leadership.
As part of this programme Apprentices will also have the opportunity to travel to a number of UK offices and at least one of our European offices.
Once you’ve completed your apprenticeship, we’ll support you so that you have the opportunity to find a role that best suits you and explore different career paths. We’ll give you the support, training, and tools you need to continue to excel in whatever you choose.
