Cyber Security Architect

Our client in the IT Consultancy sector is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect with a strong background in network and perimeter security to join a technically focused architecture team for a 6-month contract.

You'll provide security architecture expertise across complex enterprise, cloud and hybrid environments, helping teams design secure, resilient and practical solutions. You'll work across network, infrastructure, cloud and security domains, translating architectural principles into designs that can be implemented effectively.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working at both strategic architecture and detailed technical design levels and is comfortable engaging with engineers, architects and senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and assure secure network, perimeter and hybrid-cloud architectures.
• Define security approaches for firewalls, WAFs, gateways, proxies and secure connectivity.
• Develop segmentation, Zero Trust and access-control strategies.
• Translate security architecture into practical technical designs with engineering teams.
• Assess technical risks and recommend proportionate controls and remediation.
• Provide architecture assurance through design reviews and governance.
• Produce clear architecture documentation, diagrams, security patterns and recommendations.
• Collaborate across network, cloud, infrastructure, application and security teams.

Key Requirements

• Strong experience in enterprise network and security architecture.
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, DNS, VPNs and secure connectivity.
• Hands-on architectural experience with enterprise firewall technologies.
• Understanding of WAF, IDS/IPS, proxies, gateways and internet-facing security.
• Experience with network segmentation, DMZs and hybrid-cloud security.
• Strong understanding of AWS and/or Azure security architecture.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust, identity, access management and security monitoring.
• Ability to assess risk and turn security requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior technical stakeholders.
• Ability to challenge constructively while maintaining a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach.
