A leading global organisation is seeking a Head of Data Engineering to support the growth of its data, analytics, and AI capability. This role is ideal for a commercially minded leader with a strong track record in developing client relationships, shaping propositions, and converting opportunities into successful engagements.

The role combines strategic technical leadership with a significant emphasis on business development, bids, and revenue growth. You will bring a clear vision for modern data platforms, stay informed on emerging technologies, and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and an agile mindset.

You will work within a distributed team environment, collaborating with clients and colleagues across multiple locations. The organisation offers a supportive setting that encourages continuous development of both technical expertise and commercial leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Provide leadership in modern data architecture and engineering, including the design and delivery of scalable, cloud-based data platforms
• Play a leading role in business development activities, including opportunity identification, pipeline development, and contribution to pitches, bids, and proposals
• Build and maintain senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on data, analytics, and AI capabilities
• Shape client propositions that clearly articulate business value and measurable outcomes enabled by data and digital technologies
• Lead and mentor technical teams, promoting collaboration, capability growth, and high-quality delivery
• Oversee the design and implementation of data solutions using cloud services and modern data platforms such as Microsoft Azure-based technologies, Fabric, and Databricks
• Communicate complex technical concepts and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Take ownership of initiatives, driving projects forward while adapting to evolving business priorities

About You

You will have:

• Demonstrated significant experience in building and converting a pipeline of data, analytics, or AI opportunities, with strong commercial experience and an understanding of commercial drivers.
• Proven ability leading on successful bids, proposals, and client presentations
• Extensive experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related discipline, including cloud-based solution design and delivery
• Strong technical foundations, including proficiency in Python and SQL, and experience with modern data platforms
• A solid understanding of organisational and industry challenges, and how data-led solutions can address them
• Proven leadership and coaching experience, with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the confidence to lead complex client engagements
• Relevant professional certifications are beneficial but not essential
