Senior IT Engineer
Role: Senior IT Engineer Salary/Rate: up to £450 per day Location: central London + travel to clientsContract Duration: 3-6-months
We are seeking a Senior IT Engineer for an established IT Managed Service Provider delivering outsourced IT support, infrastructure management, and technology solutions to a diverse range of clients.
This Senior IT Engineer role is based between on site in central London and travel to client sites as needed. The contract for the Senior IT Engineer position is for 3-6-months.
The Senior IT Engineer role is based within the Support department, responsible for overseeing Support Engineers, managing client projects and providing high-level technical support. The role involves mentoring team members, ensuring effective workload management and contributing to both client-facing and internal IT operations.
Essential skills/experience required:
- End-User Support & Device Management: Administrate and troubleshoot Windows, macOS, and Linux workstations.
- Server Administration: Manage Windows Server environments and perform basic Linux server administration.
- Identity & Access Management: Configure and maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, and Azure AD, including Single Sign-On (SSO).
- Cloud Services: Administer Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) and Google Workspace environments.
- Networking: Diagnose and resolve network issues using the OSI model; manage DNS and DHCP services across Windows and Linux platforms.
- Virtualisation & Containerisation: Understand and support VDI solutions and virtualisation technologies such as Docker, LXD/LXC.
- Telephony: Support VoIP systems (FreePBX, Microsoft Business Voice).
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Use and contribute to internal systems including ticketing platforms, wikis, knowledge bases, and password vaults.
- Client Engagement: Participate in customer management activities, including review meetings and project delivery.
- Team Coordination: Assist in managing support engineers, scheduling, and calendar planning.
- Communication & Collaboration: Maintain clear, professional communication with clients and team members via email, calls, and meetings.
- Policy & Compliance: Stay informed of company services and policies, ensuring adherence to the Information Security Policy and all relevant protocols.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Deliver prompt, effective, and professional technical support to clients across various environments.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of team operations and technical capabilities.
- Accurately log all support requests and document work completed.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for systems, configurations, accounts, and support processes.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with both clients and team members.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and best practices in all work undertaken.
- Meet agreed service levels and follow established support processes.
- Be available for occasional out-of-hours work when necessary.
- Participate in team meetings and reviews.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and care for both client and company interests.
- Collaborate with the Sysadmin team to report on project progress, raise concerns and share updates.
