About the role We are looking for a Lab Analyst to join our team and help bridge the gap between pathology laboratory practice and Laboratory Information System (LIS) software development. This role will support pathology laboratory users, help gather and translate customer requirements, contribute to training and product demonstrations, and work with internal teams to ensure our software continues to meet the needs of clinical laboratory environments. The successful candidate will bring practical pathology laboratory experience, strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with laboratory personnel, software developers and customer-facing teams. Key responsibilities Understand pathology laboratory workflows and how LIS software supports day-to-day laboratory activity. With assistance develop an in-depth understanding of our LIS software to include how it is used in the lab and how it is configured. Support customers using LIS software, including Level 1 and Level 2 support. Work with laboratory personnel and developers to capture requirements, diagnose issues and support system enhancements. Translate laboratory domain knowledge into clear user stories and specifications for software engineering teams. Support verification, validation, training material development, tenders and laboratory application demonstrations. Keep up to date with regulatory and clinical practice changes and communicate relevant impacts to internal teams. Key skills and experience Practical experience of bacteriology and virology workflows in a hospital pathology laboratory setting. Practical experience using laboratory instrumentation such as GeneXpert, MALDI-TOF and VITEK. Understanding of regulatory requirements specific to bacteriology and virology, including mandatory reporting to regulatory bodies. Understanding of infection control processes and requirements. Ability to understand, capture and communicate user requirements clearly. Knowledge of laboratory health and safety and current changes in pathology laboratory practice. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Desirable HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist. Experience working in a hospital microbiology laboratory. Experience of configuration, testing and validation of LIS software, middleware or other laboratory applications. Interest in IT, troubleshooting and configuring Windows beyond standard application use. Qualifications and personal attributes Degree in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent. You will be analytical, organised and customer-focused, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a positive can-do attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
