A world-class commodities trading firm is growing its technology division and looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to help shape, scale, and guide its global cloud infrastructure.
Technology sits at the very heart of this business, engineers work side-by-side with traders, quants, and analysts to deliver systems that power pricing, risk, and analytics across global energy and financial markets.
The Role
As Lead DevOps Engineer, you'll take ownership of the firm's AWS cloud environment and DevOps roadmap, reporting directly to the Head of DevOps.
You'll set technical direction, mentor engineers, and stay hands-on across automation, infrastructure, and deployment.

What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps Engineers, setting best practice and delivery standards.
- Design, secure, and manage multi-region AWS environments across production and development.
- Drive Infrastructure-as-Code adoption using Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and KEDA.
- Oversee containerised environments (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes) for trading and analytics platforms.
- Champion automation, reliability, and cost efficiency across all systems.
- Partner closely with software, data, and infrastructure teams to accelerate engineering delivery.
What You'll Bring
- Proven leadership experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure role.
- A degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
- Deep, recent experience with AWS (multi-account, networking, IAM, cost optimisation).
- Proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, and CI/CD tools.
- Strong background in containerisation and orchestration (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes).
- Scripting experience in Python (preferred) or Bash.
Preferred Background
- Experience in commodities trading, or within financial trading or investment banking.
- Familiarity with data-intensive or Real Time analytics environments.
- Exposure to observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
- Knowledge of security and high-availability design in AWS.
