Role Summary
Our client in the commodities trading sector is seeking an Application Support Analyst to support critical trading applications across the Metals and Energy business. The role focuses on ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of trading systems while working closely with traders, risk teams, and IT development to resolve issues and support daily operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for trading applications including trade capture, market data, risk, and settlement systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical and functional issues while managing incident tickets and maintaining knowledge documentation.
- Monitor trading applications and batch processes, responding to alerts and minimising disruption to trading activity.
- Support traders and other front-office users with application queries, permissions, and system usage.
- Assist with software releases into test and production environments in line with audit and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with IT development teams on projects, maintenance, and system improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve or automate manual processes.
- Support electronic trading user access management and assist with onboarding new trading platforms and products.
- Liaise with exchanges and independent software vendors to troubleshoot access, configuration, and connectivity issues.
- Support development teams in diagnosing API and FIX protocol issues.
- Provide production support for real-time market data platforms and vendor applications including Bloomberg, LSEG Workspace, Refinitiv, and FactSet.
- Monitor and resolve issues across market data feeds and infrastructure while supporting system upgrades and releases.
Required Skills:
- Strong SQL knowledge (Oracle or MS SQL Server).
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with Windows infrastructure environments.
- Previous experience in application or production support.
- Experience within commodities trading or financial services is desirable.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to operate in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Knowledge of trading platforms such as Openlink, FIX, Trayport, or Trading Technologies (TT) is beneficial but not essential.
