Our client, a leading global commodities trading firm, is hiring a Global Head of Front Office Application Engineering to lead the technology powering its gas, power and physical trading desks. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role owning the design, delivery and performance of front-office trading platforms, including pricing, execution, risk and physical trading systems. You will lead a globally distributed engineering team while partnering directly with traders and quants to deliver low-latency, high-impact trading solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global Front Office Application Engineering team across 4 locations.
• Own all front-office trading systems, including pricing, execution, risk, P&L and trader UIs.
• Act as the senior technology partner to Gas and Power trading desks.
• Ensure platforms are low-latency, resilient and scalable for real-time trading.
• Drive engineering standards across architecture, DevOps, CI/CD and AWS.
• Balance platform stability with innovation, including analytics and AI-driven tools.

Required Experience

• 12–15+ years in engineering leadership within trading, commodities, energy or capital markets.
• Proven experience running front-office application teams supporting live trading desks.
• Strong technical background in Java, React, APIs, real-time data and AWS.
• Experience delivering high-performance, low-latency trading platforms.
• Confident working directly with traders, quants and senior commercial stakeholders.
