Software Engineer in Test

Duration: Until the end of November initially

Rate: Up to £530 per day (Inside IR35)

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer/ SDET to join a growing engineering team, focusing on automated API testing within a modern, cloud-based environment. This role will suit someone with strong hands-on experience in API testing, ideally using Golang, and familiarity with tools such as Insomnia or Postman.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and execute automated tests for RESTful APIs
• Build and maintain scalable API test frameworks (preferably in Golang)
• Perform functional, integration and regression testing across services
• Validate APIs against OpenAPI / Swagger specifications
• Work closely with developers to ensure high-quality, testable code
• Analyse test results, identify defects and support resolution
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing practices

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in API testing (REST, integration testing)
• Programming experience in Golang or Python (or willingness to work in Go)
• Experience with API testing tools such as Insomnia (preferred) or Postman
• Understanding of OpenAPI / Swagger specifications
• Experience working with databases such as Oracle and/or PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of networking concepts and firewalls
• Familiarity with version control and CI/CD environments
