Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Choice Procurement Services and become part of a dedicated Inventory and Logistics Team that plays a vital role in supporting hospital services every day. As an Inventory Officer, you will help ensure that essential clinical and non-clinical supplies are available when and where they are needed, directly supporting the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
Working within our Inventory and Logistics Team, you will be responsible for managing stock levels, replenishing inventory, monitoring product usage and maintaining accurate inventory records across wards and departments. You will work closely with clinical teams, procurement colleagues and suppliers to ensure stock is effectively managed, reducing waste and supporting efficient service delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in inventory management, stores, logistics or supply chain operations who enjoys problem-solving, working collaboratively and delivering high standards of customer service. You will play an important role in maintaining stock availability, supporting operational efficiency and ensuring inventory processes are followed accurately and consistently.

Main duties of the job
You will join a busy Inventory & Logistics Team responsible for ensuring supplies are available, replenished and managed efficiently across the organisation. This is a hands-on role that combines inventory management, customer service, stock control and process improvement within a fast-paced NHS environment.
We are looking for an individual with experience in inventory management, stores or supply chain operations, ideally within a large and complex organisation. You will have organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining accurate records and stock availability.
You will have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach and the ability to build positive relationships with clinical and non-clinical colleagues. You will be committed to delivering high standards of customer service, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting stock management processes. Experience of using IT systems and maintaining accurate records is essential, while experience within the NHS would be advantageous.

Job responsibilities
To deliver an accurate, efficient, and customerfocused materials management service across wards and theatres by maintaining optimum stock levels of clinical and nonclinical supplies. The post holder is responsible for the timely replenishment, ordering, and rotation of stock using agreed MatMan processes and digital inventory systems. By ensuring the availability of essential consumables and equipment, the role supports safe patient care, reduces waste, and contributes to effective supply chain performance, operational continuity, and Choice and the Trusts Scan4Safety principles.

Qualifications
- NVQ level 3/Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) /Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport(CILT) qualification or equivalent level of experience and knowledge.
- ICDL (formerly ECDL) or equivalent

Experience
- An understanding of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- An understanding of inventory management theory and benefits, stock control procedures, delivery routes, manual handling.
- An understanding of a largescale public sector Inventory Management IT systems: NHS Supply Chain eDC and other healthcare Inventory Management systems as appropriate.
- An understanding of an Automatic Data Capture (ADC) Unit IT Systems and other handheld stock control systems as appropriate.
- An understanding of purchase order IT systems: Oracle Cloud Finance and Procurement System and other healthcare P2P systems as appropriate.
- Build up an extensive knowledge of products and suppliers used within Choice and the Trust.
- Develop an understanding of Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions, Purchasing procedures and Public Procurement regulations as they relate to their own work.
- Knowledge of procurement principles through appropriate training courses provided by the Skills Development Network.
- Understanding of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.
- The ability to provide professional advice and guidance to customers.
