Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable ICT / Computing Teacher to join a successful and forward-thinking secondary school in Leicester. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience.
The ICT / Computing Teacher will inspire students to develop strong digital, computational and problem-solving skills, preparing them for further study and future careers in a rapidly evolving digital world. The postholder will contribute positively to the wider life of the school and support the development of an engaging and ambitious computing curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in ICT and Computing in line with the national curriculum.
- Teach a range of topics including digital literacy, programming, data representation and computer systems.
- Prepare students effectively for internal assessments and external examinations.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners and promote positive progress and outcomes.
- Assess, monitor and track student progress and provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Contribute to the development and review of the ICT and Computing curriculum.
- Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement and engagement.
- Support enrichment activities and extra-curricular opportunities related to computing and digital technologies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and across the wider school.
- Take part in staff meetings, training and professional development activities.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- A relevant degree in Computing, ICT or a closely related subject.
- Experience of teaching ICT and/or Computing at secondary level.
- Strong subject knowledge across the Computing and ICT curriculum.
- The ability to deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that motivate students of all abilities.
- A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting the progress of all learners.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A positive, flexible and professional approach to teaching and learning.
- Experience of teaching GCSE and/or A level Computing is desirable.
