About us
ClearBox Consulting is an established, specialist, consultancy that has a great reputation within our niche industry, attracting a variety of medium to large company clients for our intranet, digital workplace, and internal communications consulting. We are a small team with a mix of specialisms and shared responsibilities, so are looking for someone who will understand and work within that approach and be an extension of the ClearBox team.
The role
We are looking for a freelance, work-from-home, marketing manager to improve the quality and reach of our messaging and manage all our digital channels. This is a hands-on marketing role within a small, expert-led consultancy. You’ll have the autonomy to shape how marketing works at ClearBox, while working closely with our experienced digital workplace consultants who will collaborate with you to set the overall strategy.
The role combines execution and experimentation - from developing campaigns and growing our audience, to supporting thought leadership and building market presence. You’ll be expected to take ownership, work collaboratively, and continuously look for ways to improve how we reach and engage our audience. You’ll also need to be someone who can operate effectively in a small-business environment - prioritising what matters, making smart trade-offs, and maximising impact from available resources.
Responsibilities
Over time, we expect to expand the role so that you will develop and take ownership of strategy. For now, we’re looking for someone who can effectively execute, maintain and manage our ongoing marketing and website activities. All below responsibilities will therefore be supported by the broader ClearBox team and we understand a degree of learning may be required in places.
- Own the delivery of ClearBox’s marketing strategy, aligning activity with business objectives.
- Lead the enhancement of existing website pages, working with consultants to ensure accuracy, usability and relevance.
- Lead the promotion and ongoing visibility of ClearBox’s flagship Intranet Review Report, recognising it as a key brand and lead-generation asset, with responsibility for driving downloads, reach, and engagement as a core measure of marketing performance.
- Lead the development and refinement of service propositions, shaping messaging and positioning to reflect our needs and market trends. And, the associated go-to-market plans and campaigns.
- Oversee marketing channels and platforms, including website, email, social media, and paid (Google/LinkedIn ads), ensuring consistency and performance.
- Use HubSpot (CRM) to support marketing activity, manage contacts, and track performance, with a focus on practical application rather than technical depth.
- Own and scale ClearBox’s LinkedIn presence as a core marketing channel, growing the company page and adhering to best practices and algorithmic trends.
- Support and develop consultant profiles within our target markets, creating content, identifying speaking and visibility opportunities, and guiding personal brand development to extend ClearBox’s reach and credibility.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of client case studies, working with consultants to capture impactful stories, articulate value delivered, and use these assets to support marketing and business development.
- Produce and manage our regular email newsletters within HubSpot, including content planning, creation, distribution, and performance tracking, ensuring GDPR compliance and best practice.
- Plan, deliver, and promote webinars and in-person (owned) events, including platform / venue management, audience acquisition, and post-event content distribution.
- Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital, events, and thought leadership channels, including new services and report launches.
- Manage third-party marketing/advertising agencies and media partners.
- Track, analyse, and report on marketing performance, using data to optimise campaigns and inform future strategy.
Key knowledge, skills, and experience required
- 4+ years’ commercial marketing experience, ideally B2B.
- Experience working closely with consultants or subject matter experts, with the ability to interpret technical briefs and translate complex ideas into clear, compelling marketing content.
- Background ideally within B2B, technology, or professional services environments.
- Strong working knowledge of WordPress, including managing and updating website content.
- Practical experience using HubSpot or similar platform to support campaigns, manage contacts, and track performance.
- Experience in planning and delivering webinars and/or events, including promotion, coordination, and follow-up activity.
- Deep understanding of LinkedIn as a core B2B marketing channel, including audience growth, content performance, and engagement strategies.
- Experience developing and executing go-to-market plans and campaigns for services driven organisations.
- Canva (or similar) skills, with the ability to create high-quality visual assets for campaigns and social media.
- Strong copywriting skills across formats, including website content, case studies, services, newsletter, campaign messaging, social posts, and editing.
- Experience with marketing performance tracking and reporting, using Google Analytics and Looker Studio.
- Strong commercial awareness, with an understanding (or desire to develop understanding) of how marketing contributes to pipeline, revenue, and ClearBox’s growth.
- Experience working in lean or resource-constrained environments, with the ability to maximise impact from limited budgets.
Desirable experience or willingness to learn
- Managing paid media campaigns (e.g. Google Ads).
- Building and engaging communities on Reddit.
- Knowledge of SEO and AIO techniques.
- Understanding of internal comms or the digital workplace industry.
