Power BI Developer
Our client is currently recruiting for a Power BI Developer on an initial 3 month contract. The Power BI Developer is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade business intelligence and analytics solutions using Microsoft Power BI and the wider Power Platform ecosystem and other tools.
The Power BI Developer will ensure that complex business requirements are translated into scalable, interactive dashboards and reports that enable data-driven decision-making, while leveraging Power Platform capabilities including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Virtual Agents to create comprehensive business solutions that drive operational excellence and digital transformation across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities for the Power BI Developer
- Own the complete architecture of Power BI solutions across large-scale enterprise implementations, ensuring scalability, performance optimisation, and alignment with business strategy.
- Design and develop sophisticated Power BI semantic models (datasets) and reports for multiple business functions, translating complex data requirements into intuitive visualisations and actionable insights.
- Implement row-level security (RLS), incremental refresh strategies, and composite models to ensure data governance and optimal performance across the Power BI ecosystem.
- Develop integrated Power Platform solutions combining Power BI with Power Apps for data collection, Power Automate for workflow automation, and Power Virtual Agents for self-service analytics.
- Contribute to the overall Data Democratisation Transformation programme, ensuring Power Platform solutions integrate seamlessly with Azure data services, Microsoft Fabric, and the broader data ecosystem.
Key Skills & Experience for the Power BI Developer
- Proven experience delivering Power BI solutions in enterprise environments, with deep expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modelling best practices.
- Strong proficiency across the Power Platform ecosystem including Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven), Power Automate, and Dataverse.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong understanding of business intelligence concepts, KPI development, statistical analysis, and data visualisation best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python or R for advanced analytics, and experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines are highly desirable.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts to business audiences.
