About The Role
We're hiring a Senior / Lead Data Analyst, Strategic Finance (FP&A). This is a high-impact role, at the intersection of finance, data, and strategy.
Working closely with the Director of Strategic Finance, you'll be responsible for building the insight delivery systems, models, and automations that power decision-making across FP&A, and long-term financial strategy. You'll work closely with Product, Data, Engineering, and the CEO's office, turning data into actionable insights that accelerate decision-making at every level of the business.
While supported by an established Commercial Analytics team, this is the first role fully dedicated to owning and scaling the automation and intelligence layer within Strategic Finance. You'll architect and scale the models, tools, and systems that surface critical insights and enable faster, smarter decisions across the business.
This is an individual contributor role with future leadership potential - perfect for someone who wants to own end-to-end systems today and grow into building a team tomorrow. If you're a builder with a deep understanding of financial metrics, a bias for automation, and a drive to turn complex data into actionable insight - you'll thrive here.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Build predictive models and decision-support tools driving our financial statements - from revenue, gross profit, operating costs, and cashflow.
  • Turn one-off strategic analyses into scalable, self-serve tools — powering decision-making across scenario planning, LTV modelling, cohort analysis, pricing, and capital allocation.
  • Work cross-functionally with Data, Product, and Engineering to define and maintain data models that power both executive-level insight and operational decisioning.
  • Automate recurring finance workflows such as investor reporting, covenant tracking, performance pacing, and financial close tasks.
  • Create intelligent, automated reporting workflows for financial and operational metrics - think trading updates, forecast variance analysis, board KPIs, and more.
  • Own the architecture for insight delivery - dashboards, semantic layers, and data pipelines that serve as the foundation for financial and strategic reporting.
  • Act as the technical bridge within Strategic Finance, enabling faster, smarter decisions through automation, intelligent tooling, and scalable systems.
  • Champion data governance and documentation to ensure consistency, trust, and clarity across all internal and external reporting.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years in data analytics, BI engineering, analytics engineering, or hybrid data/finance roles, ideally in a high-growth, product-led company.
  • Experience developing and owning predictive modelling systems at a company level.
  • Ability to communicate analytical insights with influence at senior forums. Experience guiding internal decision-making at executive level.
  • Hands-on experience with BI tools (e.g. Looker, Mode, Tableau) and data workflow tools (dbt, Airflow).
  • Expert-level SQL and strong experience with scripting (Python preferred) for automation and data workflow orchestration
  • Strong grasp of financial and operational metrics—ideally having worked closely with FP&A, Strategic Finance, or similar teams.
  • A builder mindset: bias for automation, ownership, and delivering value fast.
  • Interest in fintech and Cleo's mission to make money easier and more human
Nice To Have
  • Prior experience automating or supporting investor-facing reporting or board materials.
  • Experience working in environments with a blend of consumer tech and financial services (e.g. AI, lending, credit, payments).
What do you get for your hard work?
  • A competitive compensation package (base + equity) with bi-annual reviews, aligned to our quarterly OKR planning cycles. We are open to hiring this role at an AX3 (£75-95k) or AX4 (£95-115k) level depending on experience.
  • Work at one of the fastest-growing tech startups, backed by top VC firms, Balderton & EQT Ventures
  • A clear progression plan. We want you to keep growing. That means trying new things, leading others, challenging the status quo and owning your impact. Always with our complete support.
  • Flexibility. We can't fight for the world's financial health if we're not healthy ourselves. We work with everyone to make sure they have the balance they need to do their best work
  • Work where you work best. We're a globally distributed team. If you live in London we have a hybrid approach, we'd love you to spend one day a week or more in our beautiful office. If you're outside of London, we'll encourage you to spend a couple of days with us a few times per year. And we'll cover your travel costs, naturally.
Other Benefits
  • Company-wide performance reviews every 6 months
  • Generous pay increases for high-performing team members
