Technical Product Owner (Cybersecurity Sciences & Analytics) - Sheffield

We are recruiting for a Technical Product Owner for a leading IT service provider based in Sheffield. This is a Hybrid role with 2 days a week on site.

Role Overview :

Cybersecurity Sciences & Analytics (CSA) is a ~$50m and ~150 headcount function, bringing together expertise across cybersecurity, data science, AI, software and cloud engineering, governance, and programme management to:

  • Deliver cyber analytics capabilities that measurably improve cyber prevention, control effectiveness, and the resilience of operations across the cyber life cycle
  • Engineer, automate, and continuously enhance cyber detection and response capabilities to enable effective, resilient, and scalable security operations
  • Provide trusted Cyber risk, control, and regulatory insights that inform executive decision-making and investment prioritization
  • Ensure cyber products, data, and bank-wide AI use cases comply with cyber risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and data standards, through effective data and AI governance
  • Evolve Cyber analytics platforms, products, and engineering practices through a controlled maturity roadmap, to improve platform and operational resilience, efficiency, and sustainability without increasing risk

This Technical Product Owner is a critical senior technical role, responsible for the delivery of strategic products and processes that will transform CSA into its target operating model. You will coordinate work across multiple delivery teams with internal and external suppliers, ensuring that our cross-team strategic initiatives meet the users' needs and are delivered in accordance with the programme management framework.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical product management background, an eagerness to learn, a keen interest in Cybersecurity, the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and an aptitude for picking up new tools and techniques on the job, building on existing skillsets as a foundation.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Lead delivery of operating model development, continuous improvement, product development and programme delivery workstreams, adopting the Agile delivery life cycle.
  • Operate at the interface of people, process and transformation, and understand business and technical requirements
  • Work with the team to ensure that the design, delivery and adoption plans meet the needs of the users and the constraints of the business.
  • Identify, manage and communicate dependencies and risks to product delivery.
  • Actively manage Blockers, Risks, Issues, Assumptions and Dependencies and escalating as required, making recommendations to influence decision-making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation.

  • Proven experience with operating model development and implementation
  • Experience with identifying pain points and implementing optimized ways of working

Product Backlog Management

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role within an Agile environment.
    • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring it is aligned with client needs and business objectives.
    • Clearly communicate the backlog items and their priorities to the development team.
  • Experience with successfully implementing production technology products with an advanced understanding of the methods, principles, and processes necessary to set priorities of development teams to successfully productionize a technology product

Client Engagement

  • Experience in engaging with clients and managing stakeholder relationships.
    • Understand clients' roles, needs, and pressures to identify opportunities for innovative product solutions.
    • Work closely with clients to gather requirements and translate them into actionable user stories.
    • Act as the voice of the client within the Agile Scrum team, ensuring products meet client expectations.

Cybersecurity, Data & Technology

  • Knowledge of technical software development and engineering technologies and principles, with experience working in software delivery teams
  • Understanding of cybersecurity threat and risk management landscape, including the evolving international regulation, policy, framework, and organisational cyber controls response to these threats
  • Exposure to Big Data technologies at enterprise scale
