Legal Counsel (Technology Law)

Our client is a global leader in precision engineering, manufacturing, and technology innovation.

They have a strong heritage in advanced manufacturing and metrology, delivering cutting-edge solutions across industries including aerospace, automotive, healthcare, and electronics.

You will report to the Group Legal Director based in the head office in the UK and work closely with senior stakeholders, including divisional and functional heads.

Person specification

You will have strong technology law experience and be adept at negotiating commercial contracts to reduce legal risk in a dynamic and complex business environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a key contact and advisor for stakeholders in a range of business units and corporate support departments as a subject matter expert for software, AI, cyber security, e-commerce and other technology law areas, and also assisting with general day-to-day legal queries and issues.
  • Review, draft and negotiate high-value, complex commercial contracts with customers, sales intermediaries, suppliers and other key business partners.
  • Support change projects that underpin the business’s key objectives across multiple disciplines.
  • Maintain the team’s templates, precedents, and other know-how materials.
  • Provide practical solutions to complex legal problems as an experienced business partner.
  • Address a broad range of legal and business issues while maintaining clear priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Support the Group Legal Director and other senior lawyers as required, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Contribute to the growth of the L&S team by sharing knowledge, delivering training, mentoring more junior colleagues, and supporting the onboarding of new colleagues.

Key requirements

  • Qualified solicitor (UK)with 3+ years experience in delivering pragmatic legal advice in a demanding private practice or in-house business environment.
  • Strong commercial contract expertise, with particular emphasis on open source and commercial software licensing, SaaS subscriptions, e-commerce, and data processing agreements.
  • Experience and confidence navigating and applying AI, cyber security (e.g. CRA, NIS2) and other regulations in the technology sector.

There will be a requirement for 3 days office presence.
