Technical Project Manager

Cloud Combinator is an AWS Partner. We work with technical organisations on data, AI, migrations and cloud modernisation, and we run a real partner motion with AWS: co-sell through ACE, funding programmes, and competencies.

THE ROLE

You will own the end to end lifecycle of most client engagements, from lead intake and discovery through delivery, customer satisfaction and closeout. You will also be our primary operational interface with AWS: Partner Central and ACE opportunities, funding requests, and partner programme documentation.

This is not a ticket shuffling job. You will run the discovery call, write the first draft of the statement of work, hold the sprint cadence across several projects, and pick up the keyboard yourself when the team needs unblocking. You get a written playbook on day one, and we expect you to improve it.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Discovery and pre-sales (20-35%)

  • Facilitate discovery and technical deep dive calls, turning vague requests into buildable plans
  • Produce opportunity briefs, discovery docs and delivery plans
  • Draft SOWs with measurable acceptance criteria and explicit scope boundaries
  • Estimate by deliverable and milestone, then validate against real team capacity
  • Confirm commercial viability before we commit: cost assumptions, margin, and payment milestones that track delivery risk

Delivery (50-70%)

  • Run two week sprints across two to four concurrent projects
  • Own customer communication: weekly status, demos, decisions, written acceptance
  • Hold the scope line through a real change control process
  • Maintain a portfolio view of status, staffing and risk, and escalate early
  • Make sure the quality gates happen: architecture review, security baseline, release readiness
  • Close out properly: runbooks, access transfer, NPS, retrospectives

AWS partner operations (5-15%)

  • Keep ACE and Partner Central opportunity hygiene current weekly
  • Work with AWS Account Managers, Solutions Architects and Partner Development Managers
  • Support FTR, Well-Architected alignment and competency evidence packs

Hands on technical (10-25%)

  • Prototypes and proofs of concept, automation scripts, manual QA, glue code, and code review focused on acceptance criteria and operational readiness

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Essential

  • Comfortable owning the commercial paperwork: SOWs, estimates, change requests, status reports a customer sponsor will sign
  • Technical enough to hold your own with engineers and customer architects. You can read code, review a PR against acceptance criteria, script your way out of a problem, and reason about a cloud architecture
  • Working knowledge of AWS and the appetite to go deeper. We fund a certification track
  • Scrum or equivalent iterative delivery in practice, not just theory
  • Strong communication.
  • Able to work onsite in London

Nice to have

  • A background as a developer or solutions architect earlier in your career
  • Experience with ISV and startup customers
  • An AWS certification already in hand

WHY THIS ROLE

  • Real ownership, not the fourth PM in a delivery pod. A short path to a decision: the CTO signs off go/no-go, pricing and architecture, so it is one conversation, not a committee. A genuine AWS motion. And a documented playbook you get to make better.
