Principal Data Modeller - Hybrid - Urgent!

Cloud Consulting has an urgent requirement for an experienced Data Modeller to join a high-profile project for a leading company based in West London.

The role is a hybrid one - 1 day p/week on-site and the rest can be done remotely, and is in inside of IR35.

We're looking for a Principal Data Modeller to join a major enterprise data transformation programme, helping shape the future of a modern, event-driven data platform.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced data modelling specialist who can operate across both strategic and technical domains. You'll own enterprise data models, define modelling standards, provide design assurance, and work closely with architects, engineers and product teams to ensure data products are scalable, consistent and fit for purpose.

If you thrive in complex data environments and have strong experience with Kafka-based event-driven architectures, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.

Scope of role:

  • Own and maintain enterprise conceptual, logical and physical data models.
  • Define and govern modelling standards, patterns and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and assurance across multiple data product teams.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, enterprise-grade data designs.
  • Review data models and physical implementations to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Drive alignment between source-aligned, domain-aligned and enterprise semantic models.
  • Support architecture governance, design reviews and design assurance activities.
  • Partner with architects, engineers, SMEs and product owners to solve complex data challenges.

Tech stack:

  • Extensive experience in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture and data governance.
  • Hands-on experience designing data models within event-driven architectures.
  • Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event-streaming concepts.
  • Experience modelling data across operational, analytical and reporting platforms.
  • Expertise in data products, semantic models and enterprise-wide data standards.
  • Ability to challenge, influence and engage senior technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience providing technical assurance and conducting design reviews.

Highly Desirable:

  • Data Mesh or domain-driven architecture experience.
  • Cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).
  • Experience working within large-scale enterprise transformation programmes.
