Human Resources Manager

People & Culture Manager

Glasgow | Permanent | Full-time

An established Technology Service Provider is looking for an experienced people professional to shape and deliver its people agenda during an important stage of growth.

This is a broad, hands-on position offering significant ownership and visibility across the organisation. Working closely with senior leaders and line managers, you will strengthen the employee experience, develop management capability and ensure the business has practical, scalable people practices in place for the future.

The opportunity would suit an experienced HR Manager, People Manager or Senior HR Advisor who is ready to take greater ownership of a people function. You will be equally comfortable advising on sensitive employee matters, improving day-to-day processes and contributing to longer-term organisational priorities.

What you’ll be doing

Your remit will span the full employee lifecycle, including:

  • Providing pragmatic advice to managers on performance, conduct, absence, capability and other employee matters
  • Helping leaders build confidence in managing, developing and supporting their teams
  • Coordinating recruitment and improving the experience for candidates and new starters
  • Reviewing people policies, processes and documentation to ensure they remain effective and compliant
  • Supporting performance conversations, objective-setting and career development
  • Identifying skills and development needs across the organisation
  • Maintaining accurate employee information and producing meaningful workforce insight
  • Supporting payroll-related activity in partnership with finance colleagues
  • Developing initiatives that strengthen engagement, wellbeing, recognition and retention
  • Helping the business plan its future skills and workforce requirements
  • Supporting employees and leaders through organisational growth and change
  • Ensuring personal information is handled securely and in line with relevant data-protection requirements

You will become a trusted point of contact across the business, balancing the needs of employees with commercial priorities and applying employment practice in a fair, consistent and practical way.

What we’re looking for

You will bring:

  • Experience as an HR Manager, People Manager, Senior HR Advisor or in a similarly broad people role
  • Sound working knowledge of UK employment law
  • Practical experience managing employee relations cases
  • Experience creating or improving people policies and procedures
  • The confidence to advise and constructively challenge managers at different levels
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with HR systems and confidential employee information
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work with a high degree of independence

A CIPD Level 5 qualification—or progress towards one—would be advantageous.

Experience gained within a technology, professional services, consultancy, client delivery or other fast-moving service environment would also be valuable, particularly where workforce planning and skills availability are important to business performance.

The kind of person who will thrive here

You build credible relationships quickly and are comfortable handling difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy. You care about creating a positive employee experience but also understand the commercial realities of a growing business.

You are likely to be practical, resilient and highly organised, with the initiative to spot what needs attention and take it forward. Most importantly, you will enjoy combining hands-on people support with the opportunity to build better ways of working.

Location and eligibility

The role is based in Glasgow, and applicants should live within a practical commuting distance of the office.

Applicants must already have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

If you are looking for an opportunity where you can make a visible contribution, influence senior stakeholders and help shape the people environment of a growing organisation, we would be pleased to hear from you.
