Senior Data Engineer (Bath)

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions using Microsoft Azure’s ecosystem—including Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric—to deliver innovative solutions across various projects.

You will empower our clients to harness their data, drive decision-making, and achieve their business goals.

What You’ll Do:

  • Solution Design & Development : Architect and implement scalable, high-performance data solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies, adhering to best practices for robust delivery. Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, optimize storage solutions, and document technical workflows
  • Data Management & Integration: Integrate structured and unstructured data, develop efficient data models for analytics and reporting, and ensure security, compliance, and data quality.
  • Collaboration & Client Engagement: Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions. Provide expert guidance to clients on data engineering best practices.
  • Performance Optimization: Enhance query performance and storage efficiency across large-scale datasets. Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to maintain high availability.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Offer technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives. Lead data projects, ensuring quality delivery within timelines and budgets.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, delivering solutions across industries.
  • Extensive experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Proficiency in developing ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, warehousing, and architecture best practices.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and data governance with Microsoft Purview.
  • Experience implementing unit tests and optimizing Azure resource utilization for cost-effective analytics.
  • Ability to design and develop Lakehouse solutions using medallion architecture principles.
  • Skilled in building fault-tolerant data pipelines for seamless data processing and system resilience.
  • Proven ability to work with large datasets and complex integration requirements.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate) are highly desirable.
