Embedded Software Engineer (Contract) – Outside IR35

Location: Bristol (hybrid – 3 days onsite)
CMC are currently working with a leading engineering organisation who are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support a key project focused on modernising user interfaces across their locator product range.
Due to immediate project demand, the client is looking for someone who can hit the ground running within an established embedded and BLE‐enabled environment. This is a well‐scoped, delivery‐focused piece of work with minimal ramp‐up time.
What you’ll be doing
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for locator devices
- Enhance and support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) functionality
- Act as the interface between low‐level firmware and higher‐level UI components
- Debug, test, and optimise embedded systems for performance and reliability
- Collaborate with internal engineers to ensure smooth knowledge transfer
- Deliver clearly defined project outcomes within agreed timelines
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience with Embedded C
- Solid background in low‐level firmware development
- Hands‐on experience working with BLE stacks and integration
- Experience with microcontrollers (e.g. ARM Cortex‐M)
- Familiarity with RTOS environments (e.g. FreeRTOS)
- Proven hardware / software integration experience
