Contract: 4 to 6 month (possibility of extension)
About the Role
We're hiring an experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead end-to-end data migration solutions within the Energy & Utilities domain. You'll work at the intersection of modern cloud data platforms primarily Snowflake and the Azure ecosystem (Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Azure Data Platform) transforming legacy systems into scalable, cloud-based migration solutions while ensuring data integrity, quality, and governance throughout.
What You'll Do
- Lead the full data migration lifecycle: discovery, profiling, mapping, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and cutover
- Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, dataops.live, and other cloud-native tools
- Develop and optimize complex SQL transformations for data ingestion, validation, and reconciliation
- Develop and support data solutions on Snowflake as our core cloud data platform
- Apply DataOps.live practices for version-controlled, automated, repeatable data deployments
- Work with asset & network management, telemetry, SCADA, and CNI-grade datasets
- Define and enforce data quality rules, metadata management, lineage, and cataloguing practices
- Partner with business analysts, architects, and platform teams to turn requirements into technical solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and communicate migration progress clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in data migration activities, including analysing and resolving migration defects with minimal supervision
- Strong SQL skills and hands-on Python experience
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (pipelines, triggers, linked services, datasets, monitoring)
- Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms
- Experience with DataOps.live or similar DataOps/DevOps tooling
- Knowledge of SCADA data objects and Energy & Utilities data models is a strong plus
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate between technical and business language
- Comfortable working onsite 4 days a week in Warwick
- Eligibility for Security Clearance is a significant advantage (not mandatory)
Nice to Have
- Power BI for reporting and dashboards
- Understanding of Data Product concepts, governance, and documentation practices
If you're a hands-on data engineer with a passion for solving complex migration challenges in a regulated, mission-critical domain, we'd love to hear from you.
