Head of Delivery – UK Public Sector

Location: West Midlands, UK (on‐site)

We are hiring a Head of Delivery in the West Midlands (UK) to lead end‐to‐end delivery for a large, complex account. This is a senior leadership role responsible for delivery excellence, commercial governance, team leadership and strong stakeholder engagement across one of Coforge’s most critical UK Public Sector clients.

The role requires deep experience of large-scale government programmes, strong understanding of UK public sector delivery environments, and the ability to operate confidently across technology, operations, governance and client leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Leadership & Governance

  • Own overall delivery health for the account, ensuring contractual, commercial and operational commitments are consistently met or exceeded
  • Lead multi‐tower delivery spanning application development, maintenance, digital services, cloud, data, testing and operational support
  • Establish and run strong delivery governance, risk management, performance management and escalation mechanisms
  • Ensure adherence to UK Public Sector delivery standards, security requirements, compliance and regulatory frameworks

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the senior delivery interface into the account, working closely with client leadership, programme directors and operational stakeholders
  • Partner closely with the Client Partner and Account leadership to support account growth, renewal and change initiatives
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders through transparency, credibility and delivery assurance
  • Handle complex delivery conversations, including service performance, recovery, change control and audit activity

People & Capability Leadership

  • Lead and develop a large, multi‐disciplinary delivery organisation based primarily in the West Midlands
  • Build a strong delivery leadership bench (Delivery Managers, Programme Managers, Service Managers)
  • Create a high‐performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, quality and continuous improvement
  • Support workforce planning, capability build and succession across the account

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Own delivery P&L performance for the account, including cost control, margin protection and forecasting
  • Ensure effective management of change, demand, resourcing and subcontractors
  • Support commercial negotiations, renewals and contract changes in partnership with commercial and account teams

Transformation & Improvement

  • Drive delivery maturity, automation, tooling and process improvements aligned to Coforge delivery standards
  • Support the accounts ongoing digital, cloud and service transformation agenda
  • Champion best practice across Agile, DevOps, ITIL, and programme delivery frameworks as appropriate

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience leading large, complex delivery engagements in a UK Public Sector environment
  • Direct experience delivering programmes for central government departments
  • Strong understanding of public sector contracts, governance, assurance and supplier management
  • Senior stakeholder management experience at Director / SRO level
  • Experience leading delivery organisations of significant scale

Delivery & Technology Background

  • Strong grounding in digital, application, data and platform delivery
  • Experience operating across Agile and traditional delivery models
  • Comfortable managing regulated environments with high audit, assurance and compliance requirements

Leadership & Personal Attributes

  • Credible, calm and authoritative delivery leader
  • Strong communicator with the ability to simplify complex delivery issues
  • Commercially astute with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Hands‐on when required, but able to operate at a strategic leadership level
