Head of Machine Learning & AI

Location: London (2 days per week)

Salary: Up to £140,000 + Bonus

We're partnering with a fast-growing eCommerce business looking to appoint a Head of Machine Learning & AI to lead the strategy, development and delivery of Machine Learning across one of its core customer-facing product areas.

This is a senior leadership opportunity where you'll define how Machine Learning and AI enhance customer experience, drive commercial performance and shape the future of AI within the organisation. You'll lead a high-performing team of Machine Learning specialists while working closely with Product, Engineering and Data leadership to deliver scalable, production-ready AI solutions used by millions of customers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Defining the Machine Learning and AI strategy across a major customer-facing product area.
• Leading the development and optimisation of production ML systems, including recommendations, search, ranking and personalisation.
• Owning the end-to-end lifecycle of Machine Learning models, from deployment through to monitoring and optimisation.
• Driving the adoption of Generative AI and LLM-powered capabilities across customer-facing products.
• Partnering with Product, Engineering and MLOps teams to deliver scalable AI solutions.
• Leading and developing a team of Machine Learning specialists while influencing senior stakeholders across the business.

You'll have:

• Experience leading Machine Learning or Applied AI teams within a product-led business.
• A strong background building production ML systems, particularly recommendations, search, ranking or personalisation.
• Experience delivering commercial impact through Machine Learning and AI.
• Knowledge of modern AI technologies, including LLMs and Generative AI.
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
