Senior Performance Test Lead / NFT Lead
Edinburgh (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week)
Contract Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Performance Test Lead / Non-Functional Test (NFT) Lead to join a large-scale banking technology programme. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can lead performance testing activities while remaining deeply technical across modern enterprise platforms and complex distributed systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of performance testers, driving non-functional testing strategy, analysing complex technical issues, and working closely with both onshore and offshore teams to ensure successful delivery across critical digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of performance and non-functional testers
- Own end-to-end performance testing activities across enterprise applications and platforms
- Design and execute workload modelling and performance test strategies
- Analyse application, infrastructure, and platform bottlenecks across distributed systems
- Work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams to troubleshoot and improve system performance
- Present findings, risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Support multiple workstreams and stakeholders in a fast-paced delivery environment
- Operate independently and take ownership of complex technical challenges

Performance Testing & Monitoring
- LoadRunner Enterprise (LRE)
- Gatling
- JMeter
- Dynatrace
- Splunk
- Strong workload modelling experience
Cloud & Platform Technologies
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- OpenShift / Kubernetes platforms
- Experience working across microservices, distributed systems, and enterprise platforms
Technical Expertise
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging capability across applications, infrastructure, and services
- Ability to analyse performance issues across complex environments including server-side and integration layers
- Experience identifying and proposing improvements to code, infrastructure, and platform configurations
Leadership & Communication
- Experience leading and mentoring technical teams
- Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and presenting technical findings
- Ability to work collaboratively across global delivery teams
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to work with minimal supervision
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within banking or financial services environments
- Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation programmes
- Knowledge of retail or commercial banking platforms
