Location: Horsham, UK (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

About the Role

We are seeking a Solution Data Designer to join our data architecture function, responsible for designing and delivering high-quality, scalable, and governed data solutions across the enterprise. You will work closely with enterprise architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to define robust data models, integration patterns, and canonical data structures that support strategic systems and business outcomes.

This role plays a key part in ensuring consistency, reusability, and governance alignment across all solution data designs.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Data Design and Architecture

  • Contribute to data impact assessments and define data standards, patterns, and guidance
  • Produce and maintain solution data models and data dictionaries across multiple projects
  • Ensure alignment with Enterprise Data Models and Canonical Data Models
  • Support integration design and canonical data exchange across strategic systems
  • Apply Data Protection by Design principles in all solution designs
  • Ensure all data models and designs comply with governance frameworks
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of data-related tools and platforms
  • Contribute to establishing solution data architecture as a repeatable and scalable discipline

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration

  • Work closely with enterprise architects, data analysts, business stakeholders, project managers, platform owners, and third-party suppliers
  • Act as the project-level point of contact for data architecture matters
  • Provide trusted advice and guidance on data design decisions
  • Facilitate alignment between technical and business stakeholders
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organisation

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to improve data architecture practices and standards
  • Stay current with emerging trends in data architecture, cloud technologies, and analytics
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data design methodologies and approaches

Skills and Experience Required

Core Experience

  • Proven experience as a Solution Data Architect or Solution Data Designer
  • Strong expertise in data modelling, integration patterns, and architectural design
  • Experience working in complex enterprise environments with multiple systems and stakeholders

Tools and Technologies

  • Hands-on experience with Erwin data modelling tool (essential)
  • Familiarity with enterprise data catalog platforms such as Microsoft Purview
  • Experience with Master Data Management tools such as Ataccama or Profisee (desirable)
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Data integration and middleware solutions
  • Database management systems and data architecture principles

Cloud and Analytics

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Databricks and Power BI
  • Awareness of Azure Machine Learning and AI-driven data capabilities is advantageous

Soft Skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to influence and challenge constructively while maintaining professional relationships
  • Experience working across multiple teams, geographies, and seniority levels
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within Insurance or Financial Services environments
  • Experience working in regulated industries

Customer Conduct Framework

You will be expected to understand and apply FCA Conduct Rules as part of your role within Intact Insurance UK. You will also be required to uphold the organisation’s Conduct Framework and contribute to delivering positive customer outcomes.
