Backend Software Engineer
I'm currently supporting a global technology organisation that is looking to hire several Backend Software Engineers to join a newly formed team working on a greenfield insurance platform.
This is an opportunity to join a highly scalable, product-led engineering environment where you'll be building new services from the ground up using modern cloud technologies.
Contract Details
- Initial 6-month contract - high chance of extension
- £523 per day (Inside IR35)
- 37.5 hours per week
- 2 days per week onsite in Manchester
- Multiple positions available
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs
- Build insurance offer, eligibility and configuration capabilities
- Integrate with a range of internal platforms and services
- Take ownership of services throughout the full development lifecycle
- Improve system scalability, reliability and performance
- Monitor and optimise production systems through SLIs and SLOs
- Investigate and resolve issues across customer-facing and internal systems
- Collaborate with engineers, product teams and business stakeholders
- Contribute to technical design and architectural decision-making
Requirements
- Strong commercial backend software engineering experience
- Experience building scalable, high-volume distributed systems
- Strong understanding of cloud-based development environments
- Ability to work independently and contribute within a collaborative team
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working in modern product engineering organisations
