Compliance Manager - Product

The Product Compliance Manager is a foundational First Line hire embedded directly within the Product function. This role ensures that every product built across the Business and money wallet is compliant from the moment ideas take shape—not at the point of launch. You will design and own the core compliance infrastructure, including regulatory obligation mapping, the product compliance risk register, BaaS/outsourcing oversight, and sprint‐level compliance reviews. Operating as a thinking partner to Product Owners, Designers, and the Head of Product, you combine regulatory expertise with product instinct to help deliver outstanding customer experiences without regulatory surprises.

  • Regulatory obligation mapping — build and maintain the standalone artefact across both product lines, updated each sprint where scope changes
  • - Product compliance risk register — live across B2B and B2C, visible to Head of Product and executive team
  • - FinCrime product design — embed KYC, AML, and transaction screening requirements into product briefs from discovery
  • - Consumer Duty obligations — mapped against both product lines, owned as product requirements
  • - Sprint compliance review — attend sprint ceremonies, review user stories and acceptance criteria for compliance integrity before development begins
  • - Annual product compliance review — structured assessment of all live products against regulatory obligations
  • BaaS outsourcing compliance — maintain regulatory obligations within the BaaS relationship and associated outsourcing framework
  • - Compliance infrastructure — risk frameworks, regulatory checkpoint calendar, First Line standards
  • - Dotted-line relationship with MLRO, CCO — escalation and consultation; Second Line retains full independence
  • 3–5 years in a First Line product compliance, FinCrime, or regulatory product role within a regulated financial services or FinTech environment
  • - Demonstrable experience conducting compliance audits independently — scoping, methodology, gap analysis, remediation planning
  • - Ability to translate regulatory obligations into product requirements
  • - FCA regulatory framework knowledge — payments, e- money, or retail banking
  • - AML / KYC design experience at the product level, not purely operational
  • - Consumer Duty familiarity — able to map obligations to product outcomes
  • - BaaS, EMI, or outsourcing model experience — comfortable managing regulatory obligations within a third-party infrastructure relationship
  • - Strong written output — regulatory mapping artefacts, risk frameworks, written assessments for executive and Second Line audiences
  • - Comfortable operating in an immature compliance environment — builds structure, does not wait for it
  • - Product thinking mindset — asks how to build compliantly, not whether to build at all
  • - Able to communicate compliance risk with authority to both product and executive stakeholders
