Full Stack Developer - PHP
We are working with a well-established technology organisation to recruit a Senior Full Stack Developer to join their growing business. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a technically strong environment, delivering applications that support critical infrastructure and services across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on public sector.
The RoleAs a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of web-based applications and services. The role will involve working across the full development lifecycle, from gathering requirements through to deployment and ongoing support.
You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions, while contributing to best practices and technical standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining web applications, primarily using PHP (Symfony)
- Designing and implementing API integrations with internal and external systems
- Writing clean, maintainable, and secure code
- Troubleshooting and resolving application and integration issues
- Supporting and improving existing systems and services
- Participating in code reviews and contributing to development standards
- Writing and maintaining technical documentation
- Collaborating with stakeholders to define and refine requirements
- Mentoring junior team members where required
- TDD (test driven development) and knowledge / awareness of unit tests is required, though a minor part of the role.
We are interested in candidates with experience in the following areas:
- Strong PHP development experience, ideally with Symfony
- Experience with microservice design and API integration (RESTful services)
- Experience working with Python
- Frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Basic / working knowledge of SQL, including queries and joins
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Understanding of web security and performance best practices
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Due to the nature of the end clients, successful candidates will be required to undergo background checks, including relevant security vetting.
The role is hybrid - Willingness and ability to be on site in Manchester / the North West approx 2 days a week is essential.
