Personal Assistant to CTO – High-Ownership Role in Fast-Growing EdTech Startup
Are you someone who gets things done and thrives in a fast-moving environment?
We’re looking for a highly organised, sharp-thinking Personal Assistant to support the CTO and co-founder of a fast-growing EdTech company. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with company leadership, helping them stay focused on the work that matters most.
If you enjoy organising complexity, making smart decisions about priorities, and enabling others to perform at their best, this could be the role for you.
The Company
Our client is a young and fast-growing EdTech company transforming how schools operate through technology. Their platform replaces fragmented school systems with a single unified platform for teachers, parents, and students – one login, one place to manage school life.
They currently serve over 225 schools in the UK and internationally, and the business is growing quickly as demand for simpler, more effective school technology increases.
The team is small, ambitious, and collaborative, united by a shared mission to bring world-class technology into the education sector and restore joy to learning.
The Role
They are looking for a capable PA to support the CTO/co-founder with a strong focus on communication, prioritisation and protecting time. This role is less about managing large volumes of administrative work and more about ensuring the CTO’s time and attention are focused on the right things.
You’ll act as a trusted partner who helps filter information, maintain focus, and keep important work moving across the company. Your role is to enable the CTO to consistently focus on the work that matters most. Key Responsibilities include:
Priority Management
- Managing the sequence and timing of what information reaches the CTO, particularly inbound emails
- Triaging incoming requests – deciding what needs input, what can wait, and what can be handled independently
- Helping the CTO focus on the most important next task, not simply the most urgent one
- Managing peak email periods, such as after marketing campaigns, where volume can reach several hundred emails
Calendar & Time Protection
- Maintaining protected blocks of deep focus time in the CTO’s calendar
- Preventing unnecessary fragmentation of the day
- Managing scheduling efficiently while minimising back-and-forth
- Keeping commitments visible and ensuring follow-through
Communication & Coordination
- Drafting and sending correspondence on the CTO’s behalf with the right tone and judgement
- Coordinating across customers, partners, internal teams and stakeholders
- Organising occasional travel arrangements, such as conferences
- Ensuring important threads are followed through and completed
- Working closely with the technical team, including the Principal Engineer and CPO, to maintain smooth information flow
General Support
- Taking ownership of tasks that free up the CTO’s time and attention
- Anticipating potential friction before it becomes a problem
- Maintaining awareness of key priorities so the CTO can focus on deep technical work
Why This Role Is Different
This isn’t a traditional PA role.
You’ll be:
- Trusted with genuine responsibility, not just administration
- Working closely with company leadership and product teams
- Learning quickly inside a fast-growing technology company
- Developing valuable operational and judgement skills
What You’ll Learn in This Role
Working closely with a CTO and co-founder gives you a unique view into how a fast-growing technology company operates. In this role, you’ll develop skills in:
- Operational judgement – deciding what matters and what doesn’t in a fast-moving environment
- Executive communication – drafting clear, thoughtful communication across customers, partners and internal teams
- Startup operations – seeing how product, engineering and leadership decisions are made
- Time and priority management at a senior level
- Working directly with technical and product teams
This Role Is Ideal For Someone Who
- Wants close exposure to how a fast-growing startup operates
- Enjoys organising complexity and helping others perform at their best
- Has strong judgement and communication skills, even if they don’t have years of PA experience
- Is early in their career and excited to learn quickly in a high-trust environment
- Takes pride in being the person who keeps important things moving
You might currently be working as a:
- Personal Assistant or Executive Assistant
- Operations or project coordinator
- Customer success or support professional

To Be Successful, You’ll Have
- Strong written English – clear, confident and concise
- Excellent judgement about what matters and when
- The instinct to take action and move things forward
- Calmness and resilience when things become busy or ambiguous
- A partnership mindset when supporting senior leaders
You’ll Excel If You Are
- Organised and structured without being rigid
- Comfortable working alongside technical teams
- A self-starter who enjoys removing obstacles for others
- Calm and steady under pressure
- Energised by a fast-moving startup environment
This Role Probably Isn’t Right For You If
- You don’t enjoy helping manage someone else’s time and priorities
- You need heavy structure or constant direction
- You are uncomfortable with ambiguity or shifting priorities
- You prefer reactive work rather than proactive judgement

- £30-35k salary
