The Role
We are recruiting for a growing IT services business based in Maidstone who are looking for a proactive 2nd Line Support Engineer to join their support team.
Although this is a remote role, you must live in Kent, be a driver, and have access to your own vehicle for occasional client visits.
You will act as an escalation point for 1st Line, take ownership of more complex technical issues, and support senior management when required. This role suits someone who enjoys problem-solving, researching solutions independently, and seeing issues through to resolution.
You will also support project delivery and contribute to improving systems, processes, and documentation.
What you will be doing
• Acting as escalation from 1st Line Support
• Taking ownership of complex tickets and seeing them through to resolution
• Administering and configuring Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
• Supporting users and systems across cloud and on-prem platforms
• Using PowerShell for administration, troubleshooting, and automation
• Working directly with senior management on technical issues
• Assisting with implementations and project work
• Researching solutions when faced with unfamiliar technical challenges
• Providing remote support and occasional onsite support to Kent-based clients
• Documenting fixes and contributing to knowledge base articles
What they are looking for
Essential:
• Strong experience in a 2nd Line IT Support role
• Solid Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, SharePoint, Entra ID / Azure AD, Intune)
• Azure administration and setup experience
• Good working knowledge of PowerShell
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of escalated issues
• Confident troubleshooting Windows environments
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable supporting senior stakeholders
• Kent-based
• Full UK driving licence and own car
Desirable:
• Windows Server experience
• Active Directory, DNS, GPO
• Virtualisation (Hyper-V / VMware)
• Networking fundamentals (switches, VLANs, firewalls)
• RMM tools and automation
• Exposure to projects or migrations
• Microsoft certifications
