Azure Consultant
Azure Consultant
Remote (UK-based) with occasional travel
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 DOE
- Do you enjoy designing and building Azure environments at a platform level — networking, security, and infrastructure?
- Are you confident working across Azure networking, governance, monitoring, and security?
- Do you like working with clients to shape and deliver Azure solutions end-to-end?
Important
This role is focused on Azure platform and infrastructure (backend) not end-user or device-focused technologies.
If your experience is primarily around Microsoft 365, Intune, or endpoint management, this is unlikely to be the right fit.
The Opportunity
We are working with a growing Microsoft-focused consultancy delivering Azure platform and cloud solutions to clients across the UK and internationally.
This is a consultative, project-focused role, where you will work closely with clients, architects, and delivery teams to design and implement Azure solutions.
This is a project-led Azure platform role, not support and not end-user focused.
The Role
You will be involved in the full lifecycle of Azure projects, from discovery and design through to implementation and optimisation.
This will include:
- Working with clients to understand requirements and shape Azure solutions
- Designing environments aligned to Azure best practice and well-architected frameworks
- Delivering migrations from on-premise to Azure (IaaS / PaaS)
- Configuring and optimising Azure infrastructure and platform services
- Supporting technical project delivery alongside wider teams
- Producing clear documentation (designs, diagrams, runbooks)
You may also work alongside development teams where required, supporting Azure DevOps and cloud-based delivery.
What we are really looking for
This is a backend Azure role.
You should be confident across:
- Azure networking – VNets, subnets, NSGs, firewalls, connectivity
- Azure security – Defender for Cloud, security controls, hardening
- Governance – policies, standards, well-architected environments
- Monitoring & alerting – Azure Monitor, logging, visibility
You should be comfortable thinking about Azure as a cloud platform or data centre, rather than an extension of Microsoft 365.
Alongside this, you should have:
- Experience delivering Azure migrations (on-prem cloud)
- Strong understanding of IaaS and PaaS services
- Experience in a client-facing or consultancy environment
- The ability to design solutions, not just implement them
Nice to have:
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
- Azure DevOps / CI/CD exposure
- Broader Microsoft stack (M365, Entra ID)
The type of person who will do well here
- You enjoy working directly with clients and translating requirements into solutions
- You think about design, security, and long-term supportability
- You are comfortable explaining technical concepts clearly
- You want to work on meaningful Azure projects, not tickets
Why this role
- Project-led, consultancy environment
- Exposure to a wide range of Azure environments and clients
- Opportunity to develop into architecture or specialist Azure roles
- Supportive, growing business with a strong technical focus
