IT Projects & Infrastructure Engineer

IT Projects & Infrastructure Engineer

Herne Bay, Kent

£37,000 - £40,000

Office-based with travel to customer sites

Do you enjoy delivering IT projects and seeing the difference your work makes to customers.

Have you built strong hands-on experience across Microsoft 365, Windows infrastructure and networking.

Are you looking for a varied role combining project delivery, onsite customer visits and complex technical troubleshooting.

We are working with an established IT managed services provider in Herne Bay looking for an IT Projects & Infrastructure Engineer to join their team.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining technical project delivery, onsite customer visits and escalation support for the Service Desk. You will work across Microsoft cloud services, Windows infrastructure and networking, helping customers keep their IT secure, reliable and working effectively.

What will you be doing.

  • Delivering and supporting infrastructure and cloud projects for customers.
  • Implementing, configuring and maintaining Microsoft 365 solutions.
  • Visiting customer sites for planned engineering work and troubleshooting.
  • Taking ownership of more complex incidents escalated by the Service Desk.
  • Supporting customer environments across cloud, servers, desktops and networks.
  • Working with customers and colleagues to understand issues, explain solutions and provide practical technical advice.
  • Keeping documentation up to date and helping improve technical standards and service delivery.

What experience will you need.

You will bring a strong all-round technical background, with practical experience across:

  • Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online and SharePoint Online.
  • Microsoft Azure, Intune and Entra ID.
  • Microsoft Defender.
  • Windows desktop and server technologies.
  • Networking fundamentals and troubleshooting.

Experience within an MSP would be useful, as would exposure to Microsoft Copilot, Purview, security and compliance solutions, or endpoint management and automation.

Just as important is your approach. You will enjoy getting to the bottom of a problem, take responsibility for your work and communicate clearly with people who may not have a technical background. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities and working independently at customer sites, while knowing when to involve the wider team.

Why consider this role.

If you enjoy variety, this role offers a mix of project work, customer interaction and complex troubleshooting. You will have the opportunity to put your technical knowledge into practice across different customer environments and see the results of your work firsthand.

The position is based at the Herne Bay office, with travel to customer sites as required. A full UK driving licence is essential.
