SQL Data Engineer Job Summary

We are recruiting an SQL Data Engineer to join a global business's systems and data team. You will be responsible for supporting two core systems (Monitor and Syspro), preparing clean, validated datasets, and ensuring the business has access to accurate, reliable data to support decision-making.

This is a hands-on, detail-focused role that suits someone who enjoys solving data challenges, is confident communicating with colleagues across departments and time zones, and is comfortable working without a highly structured task list.

SQL Data Engineer - What you will be doing:
  • Extracting, cleaning, and validating data from multiple systems (Monitor & Syspro)
  • Writing and modifying SQL queries to prepare usable datasets
  • Supporting project delivery and data-related change activity
  • Documenting data workflows and sharing outputs across the business
  • Managing your own workload and following through on projects after the initial briefing
What we are looking for:
  • At least 1–2 years’ commercial experience in a data-focused role
  • Confident with SQL – able to write queries, joins, and perform data manipulation
  • Familiarity with working across multiple data sources and formats (e.g. Excel, CSV, databases)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation and stakeholder updates
  • Strong spoken and written English, able to liaise with UK and US-based colleagues effectively
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
  • Must have the permanent right to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Looking for someone interested in building a long-term career with the business

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience with ETL processes or data transformation tools
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Power BI, or ERP systems like Syspro
  • Knowledge of Python or version control (Git)
  • Awareness of data warehousing concepts
