Senior Software Developer - PHP / Laravel Maidstone, KentSalary: Up to £55,000Full-time | Permanent | Office-based (with some flexibility)

Are you a Senior Developer with strong Laravel experience Looking to lead complex projects and mentor others in a stable, growing team?

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established company in Maidstone, Kent, who are expanding their internal development team. This is a hands-on senior role where you will take ownership of Laravel-based systems, shape architecture, and guide the development of scalable applications.

The Role

• Design and build new web application features using PHP and Laravel
• Lead technical decision-making and influence architecture
• Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and develop solutions
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services
• Write clean, maintainable code using modern development practices
• Mentor junior developers and lead code reviews
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and support continuous delivery
• Contribute to system improvement, performance, and security

Requirements

• 5+ years’ commercial development experience (PHP and Laravel essential)
• Strong knowledge of Laravel components (ORM, Blade, routing, middleware, queues)
• Experience with MySQL or similar relational databases
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Vue.js is a bonus)
• Confident working with RESTful APIs and Git version control
• Experience with testing tools (e.g. PHPUnit) and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to commute to Maidstone (office-based role)

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Docker or cloud platforms
• Background in Agile/DevOps environments
• Exposure to mentoring or leading development teams
