Senior User Experience Designer – Public Sector Digital Transformation

The Opportunity We are looking for a Senior Interaction Designer to join a leading global management consultancy. You will be at the forefront of designing high-impact, regulated digital services that improve the lives of citizens. This role is specifically focused on delivering complex, large-scale programmes across UK government departments and public services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the interaction design for mission-critical digital services, moving from discovery through to live delivery.
- Shape and maintain robust design systems, adapting existing patterns to meet specific user needs and technical constraints.
- Champion accessibility, ensuring all designs exceed WCAG 2.2 AA standards and are inclusive by default.
- Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams (engineers, researchers, and product owners) to translate user evidence into delivery-ready prototypes.
- Engage senior stakeholders and provide design leadership, mentoring junior designers and apprentices.
Required Experience & Skills
- Significant experience in UX/Interaction Design within the UK Public Sector.
- Deep knowledge of Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and the Service Manual.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design tools (specifically Figma and FigJam).
- Strong technical grounding with the ability to collaborate effectively with front-end developers (understanding of HTML/CSS).
- Proven track record of delivering services that have successfully passed GDS service assessments.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, particularly in navigating complex, regulated environments.
